We are seeking a qualified and experienced Safety Officer to join our team in Durban. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring a safe and healthy work environment on construction sites, and for implementing and enforcing safety policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Safety Planning : Develop and implement site-specific safety plans, including risk assessments and hazard identification.
- Safety Inspections : Conduct regular safety inspections to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
- Safety Training : Provide safety training and inductions to employees, contractors, and visitors.
- Incident Investigation : Investigate incidents and accidents, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Safety Reporting : Prepare and submit safety reports, including incident reports, safety statistics, and compliance reports.
- Compliance : Ensure compliance with relevant safety legislation, regulations, and standards, including the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
- Stakeholder Engagement : Communicate and coordinate with stakeholders, including employees, contractors, clients, and regulatory authorities.
- Skills : Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills, as well as strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Requirements
Qualifications : National Diploma or Degree in Occupational Health and Safety (or relevant field).Registration : Registered with the South African Council for the Project and Construction Management Professions (SACPCMP) as a Safety Officer.Experience : At least 2 years of experience in a safety officer role, preferably in the construction industry.Knowledge :
