Overview
Mine Overseer Tramming role at GOLD FIELDS, South Deep Gold Mine. The Mine Overseer Infrastructure Main Shaft is accountable for the safe, effective and efficient operation of the South Deep main vertical shaft infrastructure and the associated ground handling systems. The vertical shaft is a 3000-metre single drop multiple shaft infrastructure comprising 3 shafts and four winders. The horizontal ground handling system consists of an intricate network of 21 conveyor belts with numerous ore passes and box front systems. The incumbent’s core accountability is to ensure the safe, optimised and integrated functioning of the ground handling systems aligned to an integrated continuous operational cycle. Effective operational delivery relies on advanced technical capability, intricate planning and scheduling skills, an unwavering drive for collaborative delivery and strong safety leadership experience.

Responsibilities
- Actively participate in and lead interventions aimed at contributing to a culture of Zero Harm by adhering to and ensuring compliance with legislation, SHE policies and procedures, operational standards, instructions, and governance requirements.
- Engage in and demonstrate Visible Felt Leadership aligned to operational SHE standards, campaigns, and instructions.
- Schedule and conduct regular safety, safe work practices, and delivery inspections with appropriate remediation interventions.
- Maintain effective people management by clearly defining team roles and competencies and ensuring effective team delivery.
- Coach Front Line Leaders to maintain leadership accountability over their teams in safety management, shift planning, work assignment, planned task observations, and remedial actions as required.
- Lead the formulation, adjustment, execution, and monitoring of operational plans and schedules related to daily personnel, material, ore conveyancing, clearing ore pass obstructions, horizontal conveyances management and large hard rock mining operations.
- Collaborate with engineering support and planned maintenance teams to optimise safe, efficient operation of all machinery, equipment and infrastructure to optimise the mine\'s O4R (Operating for Reliability) and M4R (Maintain for Reliability) campaigns.
- Design, execute and monitor continuous remediation plans; participate in cross-functional activities to share best practice and drive technical excellence.
- Investigate and analyse operational delivery effectiveness, and develop collaborative and innovative solutions to optimise interfaces between teams, processes, and systems.
- Support operational improvement projects and manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring accountability against delivery, service levels, commercial, community and ethical standards. Escalate issues as needed.
Minimum Requirements
Grade 12 or equivalentMine Overseer\’s Certificate of Competency for Scheduled MinesAt least 5 years’ experience in managing a horizontal environment as Logistics Mine OverseerMedically fit for the position and environment, as determined by a risk-based medical examination at the Gold Fields Occupational Health Centre and pass a Heat Tolerance Screening test, and other tests as requiredKey Competencies
