Role Description
This is a full-time on-site role for a Financial Manager, located in Somerset West.
The Financial Manager will be responsible for overseeing the financial operations of the company, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning.
Additional duties include preparing financial reports, managing accounts, ensuring compliance with financial regulations, and collaborating with other departments to improve financial performance.
The Financial Manager will also be expected to provide strategic recommendations based on financial analysis and trends.
Responsibilities
Financial Management & Reporting : Produce accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
Budgeting & Forecasting : Creating & monitoring budgets, cash flow, and financial models.
Tax & Compliance : Assist with ensuring compliance with Tax Regulations, accounting standards, and other statutory requirements.
Cost Control & Efficiency : Assist with identifying cost drivers and the implementation of lean financial practices.
Skills
Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
Proficiency in budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning
Experience in preparing financial reports and managing accounts
Thorough knowledge of financial regulations and compliance
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to collaborate with various departments
Proficiency with accounting systems such as Sage
Advanced Excel / financial modelling skills
Key Competencies
Understands consulting industry economics : billing models, utilisation rates, project profitability, and client acquisition costs.
Ability to go beyond reporting numbers to give strategic recommendations to Directors on pricing, growth, and investment.
Cash flow focus : In a boutique firm such as ours, liquidity and working capital management are critical; must manage receivables and client payment cycles.
Ability to ensure consultant, HR, and partners are aligned with financial management and business goals.
Can translate complex financial information into clear insights for non‑financial stakeholders.
Ability to effectively mentor junior finance staff or outsourced resources.
Willing to roll up sleeves—process invoices, chase payments, or run payroll when needed.
Resourceful in managing unexpected client payment delays or cost overruns, introducing new financial systems, automation, and controls as the firm matures.
Stays updated on best practices in financial management, consulting sector trends, and digital tools.
Trustworthy beyond reproach.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting, or a related field
Professional certification is preferable
Experience within the consulting industry is advantageous
