Junior Sous Chef – Leisure Resort | Garden Route, South Africa
We are looking for a talented and motivated Junior Sous Chef to join a culinary brigade at a renowned 5-star resort nestled in the stunning Garden Route. This is an opportunity for a passionate chef ready to step into a leadership-support role and grow within a dynamic, high-performance kitchen environment.
As Junior Sous Chef, you will assist the Sous and Executive Chefs in maintaining high culinary standards across all outlets, supporting day-to-day kitchen operations, team development, and service excellence.
Responsibilities
- Assist in managing daily kitchen operations across multiple outlets
- Ensure the consistent preparation and presentation of high-quality dishes
- Supervise and support kitchen staff during service, ensuring smooth and efficient execution
- Monitor stock control, portioning, and food cost efficiency
- Uphold hygiene, food safety, and cleanliness standards at all times
- Contribute to menu planning, recipe development, and special events
- Mentor and train junior team members to promote growth and skill development
Requirements
A Chef’s Diploma or equivalent from a recognised culinary institutionMinimum 3 years’ experience in a professional kitchen, with at least 1–2 years in a junior leadership rolePrevious experience in a 5-star hotel or resort kitchen is highly desirableSolid understanding of kitchen operations, food costing, and stock managementStrong organisational, communication, and leadership skillsProficiency in MS Office; experience with SAP or kitchen management systems is a plusWillingness to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays as needed#J-18808-Ljbffr
