Senior Sous Chef - Luxury Resort | Garden Route, South Africa
Salary : R45,000pm (Please note that this is not a live-in role; accommodation is not provided)
We are seeking a Senior Sous Chef to join a dynamic Food & Beverage team. This is a leadership role that supports the Executive Chef in managing and maintaining the highest standards across all culinary operations – from food production and service to catering event planning and back‑of‑house operations.
Responsibilities
- Oversee and maintain the quality and consistency of culinary outputs across all hotel outlets and restaurants.
- Lead a talented kitchen brigade and ensure operational efficiency and cost‑effective food production.
- Continuously develop new dishes and menus aligned with evolving guest dining trends.
- Assist with planning, budgeting, purchasing, and the management of kitchen resources.
- Design and implement special menu items to optimise stock usage and reduce waste.
- Mentor, train and guide junior kitchen staff – fostering a culture of excellence, discipline, and innovation.
Requirements
A 3-year Chef’s Diploma from an internationally recognised culinary institution.A minimum of 6 years of professional culinary experience, with at least 3 years at Sous Chef level in a 5‑star hotel or resort.Classical culinary training is essential.Strong interpersonal and leadership skills with the ability to confidently engage with staff, management, and guests.Computer literate in MS Office; knowledge of SAP and financial systems will be an advantage.Deep awareness of global culinary trends, cost control, food safety, and kitchen hygiene standards.#J-18808-Ljbffr
