Job Overview
The Fleet & Facilities Manager is responsible for planning, organizing, directing, and managing all activities related to the acquisition, maintenance, repair, replacement, and disposal of fleet vehicles as well as maintenance and operational readiness of facilities and related assets. This role ensures compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards, while managing staff and budgets effectively to support company operations.
Qualifications and Experience
- Tertiary qualifications in Fleet Management, Logistics, Supply Chain, or related field (e.g., BCom).
- 3 years of experience managing fleet and facilities operations, preferably in a similar industry.
- Strong leadership skills and experience managing diverse teams.
- Knowledge of relevant safety, environmental, and vehicle compliance standards.
- Budget management and procurement experience.
- Proficiency in fleet management information systems and maintenance software.
- Ability to work in a high-pressure environment and respond to emergencies.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee daily operations of fleet services including vehicle maintenance, repair, and safety compliance.Manage facilities operations including maintenance, repairs, cleanliness, and compliance with safety and environmental regulations.Develop, implement, and monitor preventive maintenance programs for vehicles and facilities.Plan and manage vehicle acquisition, surplussing, and replacement programs in compliance with policies and regulations.Lead a team of maintenance supervisors and facilities staff, providing training, coaching, and performance management.Monitor fleet performance through KPIs and fleet management systems; report on operational status and improvements.Coordinate with internal stakeholders and external service providers to ensure smooth operational workflows.Enforce adherence to federal, state, and local safety regulations including OSHA and vehicle safety authorities.Prepare and manage budgets for fleet and facilities operations; monitor expenditures and optimize costs.Handle emergency situations with 24-hour availability as required for critical incidents.Implement safety initiatives and oversee accident investigations and safety training programs.Administer employee discipline and grievance processes relating to the department.Maintain accurate records of maintenance, repairs, and fleet usage data.Ensure operational readiness of facilities, equipment, and support infrastructure.Seniority level
