Brief Description
The Faculty of Humanities invites applications for a Clinical / Counselling Psychologist. The purpose of this post is to provide support to the Teaching and Learning Unit, in collaboration with stakeholders, to further advance preventative and therapeutic interventions for students. The focus is on enhancing awareness, psycho-education and advocacy for mental health and wellness in alignment with the Mental Wellness Strategy for students and the Student Success Framework. The key areas of the post include : advocacy, psycho‑education, capacity building, training, counselling, and psychotherapy services.

Qualifications
A Master’s degree in clinical / counselling psychologyA PhD in Clinical / Counselling Psychology will be an added advantageRegistration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a Counselling PsychologistTwo to five years’ experience working as a clinical / counselling psychologistExperience in the field of advocacy for mental health, training and student development practices in tertiary education would be an advantageFormal or informal experience in comparative interfaith and African spiritual care would be an advantageExperience in facilitating and presenting psycho‑educational workshops with students in tertiary institutions would be an advantageExcellent therapeutic and advanced clinical / counselling skills, in particular short‑term / solution‑focused skillsExcellent crisis management and communication skillsExcellent interpersonal and teamwork skillsWillingness to do occasional after‑hours interventions / workshops / presentationsComputer literacy essentialKnowledge of social media applications for advocacy would also be an advantage#J-18808-Ljbffr
