AI Principal Engineer - Product Innovation

Job description5+ years in AI, ML, or Data Science roles Strong programming skills in Python, SQL, and optionally C# Deep experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS) and MLOps tools Hands-on expertise in generative AI, LLMs, RAG, NLP, and deep learning Familiarity with ERP systems and manufacturing workflows Certifications in Azure AI, AWS ML, or equivalent A detail-oriented mindset, collaborative approach, and passion for technical excellence Fully remote flexibility across UK, South Africa, or Europe High-impact engineering role shaping global manufacturing efficiency Work with cutting-edge AI tools in a fast-paced, product-driven environment Competitive compensation, bonus, and benefits package Experience : 5+ years in AI / ML / Data Science roles. Technical Stack : Python, SQL, C# (optional but useful). Cloud platforms : Azure, AWS MLOps tools : Kubeflow, MLflow, Terraform AI Specialization : Generative AI, LLMs, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), NLP, Deep Learning, Multimodal AI ERP & Manufacturing Knowledge : Familiarity with discrete manufacturing workflows and ERP integration points Engineering Delivery : Prototyping, deployment, and maintenance of AI solutions; production integration Team Mentorship : Guiding junior engineers and data scientists; promoting best practices Education : Bachelor’s / Master’s in Computer Science, Data Science, or Engineering. PhD is a plus but not required Certifications : Azure AI Engineer, AWS ML, Udacity Nanodegrees, or equivalent Soft Skills : Detail-oriented, collaborative, technically curious; strong communicator with pragmatic mindset

Our client is looking for a hands-on AI Principal Engineer - Product Innovation to lead the technical integration of intelligent capabilities, re-engineering a global ERP company’s legacy system. This role is remote from the UK, South Africa, or Europe, and is full-time with a competitive salary, bonus, and benefits.
What You Will Do
- Develop and deploy AI / ML models across engineering and operational workflows
- Prototype solutions using LLMs, RAG, NLP, and multimodal AI
- Build and maintain scalable MLOps pipelines (Azure ML, Kubeflow, Terraform)
- Collaborate with product and engineering teams to translate business needs into technical solutions
- Ensure model performance, reliability, and integration into ERP systems
- Mentor junior engineers and data scientists in best practices and emerging techniques
