The Role :
We are looking for a highly qualified and experienced individual to join our team as the Head of Department for the Intermediate Phase. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading and managing all aspects of the Intermediate Phase department, ensuring the delivery of high-quality education to students in grades 4-6.Key Responsibilities :
Develop and implement a comprehensive curriculum for the Intermediate Phase that aligns with the school's educational goals and standards.Lead, support, and mentor a team of teachers to ensure they are delivering engaging and impactful lessons that meet the needs of all students.Monitor and evaluate the performance of teachers within the department, providing feedback and support where necessary to drive continuous improvement.Oversee the assessment and reporting processes for the Intermediate Phase, ensuring that student progress is tracked effectively and communicated clearly to parents and stakeholders.Collaborate with other Heads of Department and school leadership to drive whole-school initiatives and ensure consistency across all phases of education.Manage department budgets and resources effectively, making recommendations for improvements where necessaryTo deliver future focused education in which students are motivated, inspired and challenged;To demonstrate strength of character, integrity and professionalism, at all timesTo develop and maintain constructive and ongoing partnerships with colleagues, parents, guardians and members of the communityTo communicate and collaborate with all members of the learning community in a positive, respectful and open-minded wayQualifications and Experience :
Bachelor's degree in Education (or a related field), with a post-graduate qualification preferred.A minimum of 5 years of teaching experience in the Intermediate Phase, with at least 2 years in a leadership or management role.Knowledge of curriculum development, assessment, and pedagogical best practices for the Intermediate Phase.Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team of educators.Experience with data analysis and using data to drive decision-making and improvement initiatives.A commitment to ongoing professional development and staying up-to-date with current trends in education.Attributes & Competencies
