The successful candidate will join Investec's Tax & Fiduciary Advisory team, a specialist, high-performance unit within Investec Private Bank and Investec Wealth & Investment International.The team provides high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth individuals, families, and business owners with bespoke, intergenerational tax and estate planning solutions — both domestically and cross border.The scope of work includes tax-efficient structuring, exchange control planning, global estate and succession strategies, and fiduciary advice. As a Cross-Border Tax & Fiduciary Advisor, you will work under the guidance of senior advisors, supporting the delivery of high-quality tax, estate, and fiduciary solutions to Investec's high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth clients. This is a development-focused role, offering meaningful exposure to complex, cross-border matters and the opportunity to grow into a full advisory capacity over time.Your responsibilities will include :
Assisting senior advisors in preparing client-facing proposals, reports, and structuring memorandums.Conducting technical research on South African and international tax laws, exchange control regulations, and fiduciary planning structures.Supporting the drafting and review of estate planning documents including wills, trust deeds, loan agreements, and related legal instruments.Preparing first-draft exchange control applications and assisting with submissions.Coordinating implementation tasks under the supervision of senior team members, including facilitation with external advisors.Attending client meetings, capturing meeting notes, and managing follow-up actions.Liaising with internal support areas and Investec product houses (e.g., Private Bank, Life, Wealth, Exchange Control) to facilitate client deliverables.Tracking legislative and regulatory updates and contributing summaries for internal knowledge sharing.Assisting in the drafting of internal newsletters, thought pieces, or technical content under guidance.Helping maintain internal technical toolkits and client file systems.Providing logistical and technical support for internal training sessions and presentations.Building relationships with internal stakeholders to support client delivery and collaboration.This is a development-focused role, offering meaningful exposure to complex cross-border matters, with a clear pathway to growing into a full advisory capacity :
Identify structuring opportunities that support client acquisition, retention, and cross-sell strategies.Understand and apply current tax and trust legislation, both domestic and offshore.Build confidence in navigating global tax trends and their relevance to private clients.Experience, skills and capability
Bachelor's degree (LLB, BCom Law, BCom Accounting or equivalent) with tax-related subjects.Postgraduate diploma in tax or CFP® designation is an advantage (not mandatory).0–5 years of relevant experience in tax, legal, accounting, or fiduciary environments (including articles or internships).Accounting graduates or junior CAs(SA) with an interest in private client advisory are welcome to apply.Law graduates or admitted attorneys with an interest in tax, estate planning, and structuring are equally encouraged to apply.Proactive and intellectually curious, with a strong willingness to learn and grow into a full advisory role.Sound legal and / or tax research and analytical skills.Clear, concise writing and drafting ability.Excellent time management; comfortable managing multiple deadlines under pressure.Collaborative, solutions-oriented team player with high attention to detail.Passionate about private client work, with a desire to develop deep expertise in tax, estate, and fiduciary planning.Accounting / Financial Services jobs
