General Manager | Northcliff | Upmarket Boutique Hotel We are currently looking for an experienced GENERAL MANAGER to join the team of this spectacular secluded oasis, located near the top of a ridge, with breathtaking views drawing the eyes to 180 degree horizon by day and a glowing carpet of urban and celestial lights by night As Ideal candidate you will have the following: Character Requirements Love people and always looking for better ways to serve guests Are energetic, friendly, sincere, insightful, dependable and hardworking Have a need to plan things in detail and be organized Are intuitive, and able to quickly and accurately assess a situation Highly observant, and pay attention to detail Able to anticipate problems before they occur Are a fast learner, and can think on your feet Love and are good at problem solving, and can multitask Good leadership skills with strong administrative abilities Able to delegate, but also happy to do menial tasks when necessary Work effectively under pressure Believe strongly in integrity, discipline neatness and punctuality Appreciate and have a good eye for design, arts and culture, food, wine and the nature Training & Experience Tertiary qualification, preferably in Hotel Management Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the hospitality industry with at least 2 years in a management or a supervisory roll experience in a 4 or 5 star Boutique Hotel or Guest House Valid driver’s license Experience with events or project management Basic understanding of accounting and budgets Fluent in advanced spoken and written English Highly computer literate, including MS Word, Excel, email internet searching, and general computer operations, where experience with Apple Mac would be beneficial Experience with hotel PMS, and channel management software Familiar with social media platforms Cooking, chef skills and familiar with fine dining Excellent knowledge of South Africa and the tourism industry Have a good general knowledge in world events, politics, arts and culture etc Previous refurbishment project experience Able to develop SOP’s and streamline tasks to improve efficiency levels Position Requirements Taking over the smooth running for all operations, maintaining and improving the standards and culture of the business. Manage the small team while maintaining good communication with the owner Comprehensive record keeping of staff times, leave, salaries etc Preparing and managing staff schedules and rosters Evaluating staff performance, noting where training is needed. Maintaining existing protocols and procedures and developing new ones as necessary Ensure that cultural, health and all other standards are maintained and improved Manage all guest relations from pre-booking to departure Assist guest with travel arrangements and itinerary if needed Attending to guests needs and anticipating their unstated ones Continually looking for ways to enhance the guest experience Learn recipes and assist in preparation or prepare when the chef is not available Oversee table service for breakfast, lunch and dinner Stock taking, management, ordering and purchasing Financial transaction and record keeping to present to the accountants Manage all laundry and dry cleaning with a good knowledge of chemicals & laundry practices Oversee and assist where needed in maintenance, housekeeping, F&B and marketing Manage inspection and maintenance of building, grounds and equipment Assist in developing marketing strategies Liaise with suppliers and OTA’s and travel agencies Be on call for any major emergencies and immediately alert Willing to work weekends, public holidays, and longer hours subject to hotel business requirements Salary Package R apply below - R apply below , depending on experience and skills Discretionary performance related annual bonus Onsite accommodation and utility quota included Optional use of vehicle Starting date: September/October, latest To apply for the General Manager | Northcliff | Upmarket Boutique Hotel, kindly send your cv in word document, recent full-length formal picture and written references ONLY SHORTLISTED CANDIDATES WILL BE CONTACTED.
