Job Description
Provide advice to partners, managers, audit staff and other BDO departments on requirements and practical application of accounting standards.Consult with BDO Global when deemed necessaryProvide answers to accounting issues raised on the technical help deskAdvise clients on impact of new standards and amendments and advise on practical implementationProvide written formal opinions when requestedAssist partners in replying to IRBA queries regarding accounting standardsAssist clients in replying to questions arising from JSE pro-active monitoringProvide first-line support on practical application of Companies Act in so far as it affects financial reportingAssist in preparing briefs for attorneys on legal matters arising on auditsParticipate in BDO Global IFRS Working Group and sub-groupsProvide input to BDO Global on comments on exposure drafts, proposed amendments to standards, technical interpretationsMonitor annual reports of non-BDO listed clients to compare to BDO reports and ideas for wordings and explanations for inclusion in annual reportsReview annual reports when requested for compliance with accounting standards, JSE Listing Requirements and King CodeCommittee codesReview working papers and agreements relating to areas of compulsory consultationIAS 36 Impairment of AssetsIFRS 13 Fair Value measurementIFRS 2 Share Based PaymentIFRS 3 Business CombinationsDistribute BDO technical bulletins and prepare SA bulletins when the need is identifiedParticipate in SA Auditing and Accounting Standards Committee (Technical Committee)Remain up to date with new standards and amendments and developments in SA and international business / finance / economics that may have accounting implications of interestIdentify training needs to be addressed and facilitate the training to professional staff and supervise the training to all other audit staffInclusion in annual reports#J-18808-Ljbffr
