Goodwork is recruiting for a Canadian-based craft organic cannabis company.
About the Company
We're a craft organic, family-run cannabis company revolutionizing how premium cannabis reaches consumers. Led by passionate co-founders who share a love for the plant as deep as our roots in Salt Spring Island's soil, our mission is to bring sustainable, organic cannabis to the masses without sacrificing quality - creating an affordable luxury that's not priced like typical craft producers.
We grow in-house bred strains specifically catered to outdoor cultivation, leveraging Salt Spring Island's unique microclimate to produce indoor-quality cannabis at mainstream prices. Our product line includes flower, pre-rolls, concentrates, and vapes - all grown in living organic soil with microorganisms, worms, and beneficial bacteria. We specialize in live rosin (fully solventless) and live resins that preserve the full cannabinoid profile and natural plant flavors, avoiding artificial additives. Our pre-rolls use only whole flower with no trim or leaf filler.
Our customers are primarily 19-45 year olds who care about organic, natural products and want smooth-smoking, flavorful cannabis they can trust isn't factory grown. We serve BC and Alberta, selling through provincial wholesalers who distribute to retail chains and independents.
We've won awards for Canada’s Best Concentrates and are the largest family-run independent craft organic producer in Canada. We're actively growing across current regions and preparing to expand into additional provinces as Canada's cannabis industry continues evolving.
OUR COMPANY VALUES guide our team and shape our culture :
We're a federally licensed cannabis company with about 15 teammates (expanding to 25+ during harvest season) based at our Salt Spring Island, BC facility handling cultivation, processing, and product development. Our Co-founders split time between BC and Ontario - one leads product development, R&D, and product knowledge sessions, while the other manages sales, provincial relationships, and product launches. We have remote teammates from South Africa and are investing in growing our remote offshore team.
We move fast but stay chill - quick on priorities while keeping things friendly and approachable. Leadership is accessible to everyone. The environment is fluid and growing where team members wear multiple hats. The team is social and collaborative. We have daily check-ins and stay connected via email, WhatsApp, and calls. We grab beers after work.
About the Role
We're looking for a remote Marketing Specialist to build top-of-funnel marketing strategies for Canada's cannabis industry within regulatory guidelines. This hands-on role focuses on two audiences : retail store employees (cultivating brand champions at point of sale) and end consumers (building awareness with soft CTAs directing them to retailers).
In this role, you'll be the marketing team of one, developing educational content and refining existing content about growing methods and product features, managing email campaigns for 1,000+ retailers and growing consumer audiences, creating marketing collateral from strain cards to webinars, and establishing our digital footprint across major channels. You'll coordinate multi-channel campaigns, build automation workflows, and work with sales to align marketing priorities with retail needs.
This role operates within cannabis regulatory constraints where you cannot sell lifestyle, make health claims, or use testimonials - focusing instead on education, product features, brand storytelling and competitive differentiation. Since we can't sell directly to consumers online, campaigns drive awareness directing customers to retailers. You'll build and refine marketing infrastructure while maintaining compliance.
The Ideal Candidate
Brings 3-5 years of experience in product marketing, digital marketing, content marketing, SEO copywriting, social media management, or growth marketing. You have strong copywriting skills with a portfolio, solid SEO and website optimization understanding, and email marketing automation experience. You are proficient in social media management, basic design using platforms like Canva, and comfortable with marketing analytics. You are genuinely interested in cannabis culture and comfortable discussing products with passionate customers. You are detail-oriented, excel at educational content creation, and have strong relationship-building skills for retailer outreach. You are a resourceful self-starter who thrives in small company environments and can execute independently while maintaining our friendly, collaborative culture.
Your performance will be measured by meeting deadlines, working independently, increasing top-of-funnel metrics, producing high-quality writing requiring minimal edits, maintaining organized assets, and hitting consistent content production cadence.
You'll be our first dedicated Marketing teammate. You'll collaborate with our Sales team and Senior Leadership to execute all non-sales customer touchpoints. This position reports directly to our operations-focused Co-Founder.
