Purpose of the role : to lead strategic planning, maintenance, and operational management of all physical assets and infrastructure, ensuring optimum efficiency, safety, reliability, and long-term value, aligned with MC's standards of quality, integrity, and performance.
Main Outcomes
- Maintain, optimise, and protect the full lifecycle of all assets and facilities.
- Reduce downtime, enhance reliability, and maximise equipment availability.
- Oversee maintenance strategy and execution with fidelity to schedule and quality.
- Manage budgets, contracts, and resources for cost-effective operations.
- Ensure compliance, safety, and regulatory alignment of all infrastructure.
- Lead teams in a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and innovation.
Key Responsibilities
Asset Lifecycle Management
Maintain and update the Asset Register and Asset Defects List.Identify, acquire, and dispose of assets strategically and compliantly.Implement and monitor preventive, predictive, and condition-based maintenance strategies.Execute and manage the Master Maintenance Schedule and Plan.Facilities Oversight
Manage utilities, HVAC, security systems, and general infrastructure.Oversee workspace optimisation, cleanliness, and operational readiness.Maintenance Planning & Execution
Ensure timely procurement of services and resources.Lead maintenance operations to ensure uptime, reliability, and safety.Use CMMS and IoT data to inform maintenance decisions and optimise performance.Lead and inspire the facilities and maintenance teams.Train staff on equipment use and best practices.Foster a high-performance, accountable, and safe work culture.Compliance & Risk Management
Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.Conduct risk assessments and manage audits and permits.Project & Budget Management
Plan and manage facility upgrades and expansions.Develop and control departmental CAPEX and OPEX budgets.Negotiate with vendors to ensure value and performance.Note : Part of the role includes supporting assets and facilities for other branch workshops across Southern Africa (e.g., Vaal, Emalahleni, Jwaneng) and assets in Ghana.
Requirements
Asset management and maintenance planning in industrial or engineering environments.5 – 8 years of relevant experience, including at least 3 years in a leadership capacity.Facilities operations including infrastructure, utilities, and compliance systems.Maintenance methodologies such as RCM, TPM, and CBM.Capital and operational budgeting, vendor management, and cost control.Safety, health, environmental, and legal compliance in plant environments.Hands-on technical understanding of :
Mechanical, electrical, and automation systems.Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) and IoT platforms.Data-driven decision-making and analysis of maintenance trends.Experience leading cross-functional teams and achieving operational KPIs.Pension Fund; Profit-related Bonuses (benefits vary by role).Is this job a match or a miss?
