Role Purpose
To assess new business applications and provide accurate underwriting decisions in line with the Scheme's underwriting guidelines.
Requirements
Grade 12 / Matric.
1-2 years underwriting experience.
Health underwriting experience an advantage.
Duties & Responsibilities
Liaising with brokers, applicants, members and doctors where applicable with regards to underwriting decisions made either telephonically, in writing or in person as required.
Effectively resolving any queries received and identifying trends and training gaps.
Driving and supporting effective departmental team work.
Additional Information :
Maintain a broad product, legislation and standards / protocols knowledge in order to effectively and accurately perform the role of an underwriter.
Adhere to organisational best practice and legislative requirements.
Identify risks to the company and escalate accordingly.
Maintain a consistent service delivery to ensure client retention and satisfaction.
Engage in appropriate training interventions to promote own professional development.
Demonstrate the company's values on a daily basis.
Accuracy and attention to detail.
Ability to analyse information.
Excellent writing and communication skills.
Excellent interpersonal and negotiating skills.
