Responsibilities
Job Overview
The main purpose is to ensure that all plant equipment is functioning at high levels of reliability and is maintained periodically as scheduled. All breakdowns should be resolved promptly to maximize plant availability and ensure the factory meets its key KPIs, including volume and quality compliance, costs, and downtime reduction.
Conducts Inspections of Machinery and Equipment Units
- As a dually qualified artisan, responsible for inspections of machinery and equipment units guided by OEM standards
- Monitors equipment and machinery performance to ensure plant availability
- Works with technicians and other employees to establish equipment performance before breakdowns are reported
- Determines whether breakdowns result from missed planned maintenance, part failure, or human interference
- Uses problem-solving techniques (e.g., 5-Whys, RCA, decision trees) to pinpoint root causes of failures
- Uses electrical and mechanical knowledge to troubleshoot and test equipment
- Completes job cards in consultation with the maintenance planner and requisition parts as needed
Conducts Preventative Maintenance
Performs defined and / or ad hoc electrical and equipment testingCorrects electrical system malfunctions through testing, adjustment, sequencing, synchronization, and alignment of systems such as AC / DC power supplies, main power control panels, motors, generators, circuit breakers and relay panelsDismantles electrical machinery and replaces defective parts such as gears, brushes, and armaturesVerifies and executes preventive maintenance standards on all electrical distribution equipmentCompletes documentation relating to work for future reference in the event of failuresMaintains references to equipment drawings, engineering standards and GMPs during workDetects defects and malfunctions and repairs themPerforms electrical preventive maintenance inspections and repairs on electrical equipmentPlanned Maintenance
Ensures scheduled maintenance of all machinery and equipment is conductedComplies with equipment safety protocols and GMPsCompletes job cards and parts requisition documents timely to improve mean time to repair and ensure high plant availability after planned maintenancerefurbishes machinery and replaces parts to optimize outputPlant Breakdowns
Attends to electrical and mechanical plant breakdowns and conducts diagnosis as outlined aboveObtains feedback from plant personnel on efficiency and performance of machineryDemarcates workstation per procedures during major work to minimize disruptions and injuriesAssembles machinery units and ensures proper functioningAdheres to AIB and relevant food safety programmes and environmental protocolsCompletes documentation of work done and closes out ad hoc call outsUpdates parts / spares records with StoresMounts motors, transformers and lighting fixtures and completes circuits as per diagramsRequests replacement spares from StoresFollows all safety measures outlined by the company for all work processesAdministration and Document Completion
