Job Description :
The Centre for Academic Planning and Quality Promotion (CAPQP) is within the newly formed Division for Academic Planning. Quality Promotion and Academic Staff Development. The division is responsible for the approval processes for programmes and conducting quality reviews within the University. The role of the Director is to direct the quality promotion activities of the university in line with the UJ’s strategic objectives. The Director is required to steer the activites in academic planning and quality promotion through the responsibilities outlined below. The Director plays a key role in respect of all activities designed to enhance the overall academic qualities of the University in projects undertaken by the Division.Responsibilities :
Provide high level assistance to the Senior Director in respect of all aspects of the Centre’s work, and of the Division, as requested.Manage and oversee all aspects of UJ’s academic planning both within the institution and in respect of DHET, CHE, SAQA and professional body processes.Implement and develop academic policies in relation to programmes and qualifications.Advance curriculum and pedagogical innovation (e.g., decolonisation, technological innovation, etc.).Advance the transformation of curriculum and pedagogy in keeping with the UJ strategy.Advise and support faculties in all aspects of curriculum and programme design and development, including programme and other reviews.Implement and manage QA and QA projects at institutional level.Manage quality reviews at institutional level.Provide high level assistance with the establishment, development, and enhancement of institutional structures.Develop and maintain relationships and liaise with professional bodies and higher education associations.Assist and support faculty with professional body requirements.Liaise with higher education associations locally, regionally.Liaise with international higher education association, donor agencies among others, with a view to promoting academic linkages and partnerships especially in relation to joint programmes.Specific projects as required, and other duties assigned by the Senior Director.Minimum requirements
A Masters’ degree (NQF 9) in a relevant field.An excellent understanding of current national and international debates around developments in Higher Education.In-depth understanding of, and experience in, academic planning, policy development, quality assurance and implementation in Higher Education institutions.The ability to liaise effectively with senior University of Johannesburg staff.Demonstrated research ability and commitment to research, with a record of published outputs in the field of Higher Education policyCompetencies and Behavioural Attributes :
