Overview
Our client in Ottery, Cape Town is seeking an experienced Production Manager to join their manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will have a Matric certificate and an NQF Level 6 qualification in Production or Operations Management, along with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar role within the manufacturing industry. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is essential, as well as a solid understanding of plastic manufacturing processes. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong problem-solving skills, a high level of accountability, and the ability to perform effectively under pressure.
Responsibilities
Production Coordination :
- Implement production schedules to meet customer demands
- Coordinate production activities with other departments
- Allocate resources, including personnel, equipment, and material, to maximize efficiency and productivity
- Monitor production processes and workflow, adjusting schedules and resources as necessary to address bottlenecks and delays
- Analyze production processes to identify areas for improvement and cost reduction while optimizing efficiency and productivity
- Conduct root cause analysis of production issues and implement corrective actions
- Implement inventory control measures to minimize waste
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and safety protocols
- Maintain accurate production records and documentation
Personnel Management :
Manage subordinates in line with company policies, procedures, and industry collective agreementsLead, motivate, train, and control any allocated personnelEnsure subordinates record and report quality problems immediatelyMonitor and direct workflow of subordinatesHold regular performance reviews to discuss performance against objectives, counseling employees where performance is not in line with the standardsMotivate the team to develop with a focus on ongoing improvement.
