2. Job Purpose
To enhance the Group's operational effectiveness within a designated province by providing strategic financial and operational leadership to business units (Funerals, Burial Services, Tombstones, Catering). The Provincial Manager ensures business performance, compliance, customer satisfaction, profitability, and stakeholder engagement in alignment with Group strategy and directives.
3. Key Responsibilities
Operational Management :
Manage day-to-day operations of all reporting business units, including setting targets, tracking progress, and staff welfare management.Oversee leave administration and staff welfare for team members in relevant units.Prepare and edit reports, correspondence, and presentations as directed by senior management, and submit them on time.Create and maintain a professional working environment.Conduct marketing activities when requested.Assist other departments in their operations.Provide efficient services to other departments and promote teamwork.Customer and Sales Management :
Ensure exceptional client relationship management and customer service.Increase sales proactively by enhancing customer experience and achieving sales targets.Improve customer satisfaction by ensuring clients receive appropriate attention.Build relationships with key stakeholders and decision-makers.Drive customer satisfaction and retention strategies.Attend client meetings and prepare reports as required.Identify bid and tender opportunities and compile necessary documentation.Maintain existing and potential client databases.Support inter-branch communication and keep stakeholders informed.Think creatively to meet targets consistently.Financial Management :
Achieve revenue targets while minimizing customer attrition.Ensure cost control and profitable operation of business units.Staff Management and Development :
Train, develop, and empower staff.Manage employee morale and performance.Handle HR roles including performance management and adherence to the code of conduct.Risk and Compliance Management :
Manage risk and ensure compliance within the province.Identify potential risks, report them to senior management, and assist with mitigation plans.Stakeholder and Reporting Management :
Manage relationships with key stakeholders and third parties.Prepare regular report packs as requested.Perform any additional duties assigned by executives.4. Key Skills and Competencies
Strong leadership and operational skills.Excellent communication and reporting skills.Customer-focused with sales and client relationship expertise.Ability to manage and motivate diverse teams.Knowledge of compliance and risk management.Strategic thinking and problem-solving skills.Proficiency in Microsoft Office and relevant software.Qualifications
NQF Level 7-8 qualification in a relevant field.Experience in life insurance and / or burial operations is preferred.Relevant tertiary courses are advantageous.5. Experience
Minimum 5 years in operations management or administration in medium to large service organizations.Proven experience managing multiple units or branches.Experience in insurance or funeral services preferred.6. Working Conditions
Primarily office-based with frequent site visits.Extended hours during peak periods or projects may be required.7. Disclaimer
