Overview

Conservation Alpha is seeking a science-savvy and creative Science Communications Officer to help us bring our conservation impact work to life across Africa. This part-time, remote role blends storytelling, design, and environmental science to craft compelling, high-quality communications—from reports and presentations to videos and marketing materials.

Position Summary

Conservation Alpha supports clients to identify effective sustainable finance strategies and solutions, and to create innovative impact-based financing mechanisms. The part-time Science Communications Officer will fulfill the role by supporting the effective communication and high-quality delivery of technical outputs across the company, including reports, presentations, graphics, audio-visual summaries, marketing materials, and other client-facing deliverables. The candidate will combine skills in communications, design, and storytelling with knowledge of environmental science to present work in clear, professional, innovative, and impactful ways.

The Officer will have strong and concise communication skills (oral and written) when engaging with stakeholders across the finance and conservation sectors. The candidate should be experienced in copy-editing, visual design, and video editing, with excellent English proficiency. Experience in the conservation sector is advantageous.

The Officer will report to and support the Performance Lead while working closely with the broader team to produce high-quality outputs. The role may also support Conservation Alpha on other projects as needed. The position offers opportunities for career and skill development dependent on competencies and interests. This is a part-time, remote role, preferably based in South Africa or Kenya.
