About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and driven Sales Engineer to join our Exports Division, focusing on developing and expanding sales across Sub-Saharan Africa. The ideal candidate will have a proven background in heavy manufacturing and / or the steel industry, with the technical knowledge and commercial acumen to promote engineering solutions, build strong client relationships, and drive revenue growth in emerging African markets.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute export sales strategies for heavy manufacturing and steel products within Sub-Saharan Africa.
- Identify, engage, and secure new business opportunities with distributors, contractors, and direct clients.
- Manage and grow existing customer accounts by providing strong technical sales support and aftersales service.
- Conduct technical presentations, product demonstrations, and solution proposals tailored to client requirements.
- Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and business risks across multiple African regions.
- Prepare sales forecasts, budgets, and monthly / quarterly business reports for management.
- Ensure compliance with international trade regulations, export documentation, and cross-border logistics.
- Collaborate with engineering, operations, and finance teams to ensure seamless project delivery.
- Regular travel across the Sub-Saharan Africa region to build networks, strengthen relationships, and close deals.
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelors Degree or National Diploma in Mechanical / Electrical / Metallurgical Engineering or related field (preferred).5 to 10 years of technical sales experience in heavy manufacturing, steel, or related engineering sectors.Demonstrated ability to sell into Sub-Saharan Africa markets, with knowledge of regional business practices.Strong technical understanding of heavy manufacturing and steel processes, products, and applications.Proven track record in export sales, business development, and key account management.Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.Willingness and ability to travel extensively across Africa.Key Competencies
