Theatre Unit Manager

Role Summary

The Unit Manager will be responsible for coordinating and ensuring improved quality nursing care in line with professional and ethical standards. This role involves monitoring and implementing nursing care and service delivery within a multi-disciplinary quality assurance team, as well as overseeing capacity building, mentoring, and training initiatives.

Requirements

Minimum of 3 years experience in a private hospital setting

Proven experience in clinical leadership

Sound financial knowledge with the ability to interpret and apply financial data

Intermediate level of computer proficiency

Strong ability to manage costs, quality, and staff skill mix

Education & Certifications

Relevant nursing qualification (Diploma in General Nursing / B Cur Degree) or equivalent NQF 7 qualification

Certified qualification in the relevant specialist discipline (essential)

Registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Registered Nurse

Compliance with SANC Code of Practice and applicable healthcare legislation

A relevant management qualification will be an added advantage

Roles & Responsibilities

Coordinate and manage acuity levels and staff skill mix to ensure cost-effective, quality care

Manage departmental costs, including billing, stock control, and purchasing processes

Ensure accurate and timeous compilation and maintenance of patient files

Identify quality improvement opportunities and implement appropriate initiatives

Lead, mentor, and train staff to enhance team performance and professional growth

Drive compliance with professional, ethical, and legal standards within the unit
