Job descriptionPerform duties according to guidelines from the Department of Emergency Medicine, University of Witwatersrand, and Colleges of Medicine of South Africa. Perform Commuted Overtime. Clinical training, teaching, and assisting in the examination of undergraduate and postgraduate students. The incumbent will be responsible for interviewing, investigating, diagnosing, and overseeing the treatment of patient-related administrative duties. Participation in departmental meetings, journal clubs, case presentations, lectures, and ward rounds. Ensure that administration and record keeping is done in the department. Undertaking research. Attending and presenting at academic meetings. Encourage good working relationships between colleagues and departments. Availability for ongoing assessments. Signing annual performance agreements and availability for quarterly reviews. These positions will be joint appointments between the Gauteng Department of Health and the following academic institutions : University of Witwatersrand / University of Pretoria and / Sefako Makgatho University. Candidates in possession of a foreign qualification must furnish the Department with an evaluation certificate from the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA). Applicants with foreign qualifications remain responsible for ensuring that their qualifications are evaluated by the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA). Registrars will be required to rotate between the different institutions. Preference will be given to South African citizens. The performance of normal and commuted overtime is not mandatory, however it will be based on the operational needs of the hospitals. Requirements
- Appropriate qualification that allows registration with the HPCSA as Medical Registrar. Registration with the HPCSA as a Medical Registrar. No experience required after registration with HPCSA as a Medical Registrar. Following will be added advantage : Diploma in PEC and FCEM Part 1, Knowledge and experience in Medical Emergencies. Good written and verbal communication skills and ability to work under pressure. Ultrasound courses, equivalent qualification, research, and other Emergency Medicine-related courses.
