Overview
Property Accountant role based in Johannesburg, operating with UK hours (09 : 00–17 : 30, Monday to Friday). Hybrid working model with 3 days per week from home. This role requires working UK hours and potentially taking UK public holidays in place of SA holidays.
Responsibilities
- Assist in administering all levels of Property Accounting and special projects as needed by management.
- Assist with creating transactions and invoicing tenants, and posting receipts for tenant payments.
- Conduct credit control activities including aged debt reporting, sending arrears letters, and liaising with tenants on queries.
- Support coding of supplier invoices and production of supplier statements.
- Run end-to-end service charges processes (raising on accounts, recovering expenditure, billing voids, year-end reconciliations).
- Bank reconciliations.
- Assist with VAT reporting.
- Month / Year end activities including closing periods, running GL reports (e.g., Trial Balance) and reconciling balance sheet accounts.
- Onboard new portfolios – static lease data & financial opening balances.
- Lease administration – reconcile existing portfolio data against client leases and manage lease lifecycle.
Key Requirements
Must be able to work during UK hours and local public holidays (UK bank holidays will be observed in place of SA holidays).2–4 years of experience as a property accountant with commercial or residential management company.Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.Effective written and verbal communication with clients, peers, and management.Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.Good organizational skills and ability to manage priorities.High level of dependability, motivation and flexibility.Nice To Have
Experience using MRI Software applications.Understanding of property and lease management processes and principles.Comfortable with non-technical system administration tasks.Knowledge of turnover rent or IFRS16.Previous experience in client-facing roles.Perks and Benefits
