PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
The Lecturer / Junior Lecturer should be able to :
Implement effective lecturing of occupational hygiene modules.Show innovation in research and teaching-learning.Enrol in a MHSc in Occupational Hygiene (Junior Lecturer) / PhD in Occupational Hygiene (Lecturer).Participate in the day-to-day activities of the Occupational Hygiene Subject Group related to Teaching and Learning and Research.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES :
Teaching and Learning
Develop coursework and present undergraduate occupational hygiene modules.Supervision of undergraduate research projects.Leadership, management and service to NWU
Laboratory / instrument management and presentation of practical demonstrations.Management of work integrated learning aspects of programme.Provide service to the NWU by contributing to the achievement of its goals.Training and Development
Register for postgraduate qualification.Be willing to undergo, attend and complete training successfully.Minimum requirements
JUNIOR LECTURER :
A Bachelor of Health Sciences degree in Occupational Hygiene or equivalent (NQF level 8).LECTURER :
A Master of Health Sciences degree in Occupational Hygiene or equivalent (NQF level 9).ADDED ADVANTAGE & PREFERENCE :
Professional registration with the Southern African Institute for Occupational Hygiene (Student / Occupational Hygiene Assistant).Experience in the practice of Occupational Hygiene and / or teaching (lecturing).KEY FUNCTIONAL / TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES :
Computer literate with specific focus on Windows OS and Office 365.Knowledge of assessment theory and practice to enhance student performance.A proven commitment to teaching and learning, including a willingness to become involved in students’ educational development and wellbeing.Knowledge of modern platforms (e.g., whiteboard technology, eFundi, etc.) to enhance the ongoing changes of the learning and collaboration environment.KEY BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES :
Ability to work without supervision and solve challenges as they arise.Ability to work within a group.Ability to take initiative.The ability to solve problems independently.Good time management and problem-solving skills.Good planning and organising skills, as well as good report writing skills.A high level of professional and ethical conduct.CLOSING DATE : 26 September 2025
