About the role :
The Area Business Manager will coordinate sales, collections, and distribution operations in the assigned area for the direct distribution of Sun King Solar products sold on a Pay-As-You-Basis (also called and recognized as “EasyBuy” Business unit) through a network of agents called “Energy Officers”. The manager is accountable for generating sales, ensuring timely and accurate collections, and maintaining sustainable growth of the Direct Distribution network.
What you would be expected to do :
- Hire & retain Energy Officers : Recruit, train, and retain at least 40 Energy Officers. Use diverse channels and community influencers to find suitable talent. Build a positive reputation for Sun King’s mission of providing affordable, reliable energy.
- Training of Energy Officers : Train them on sales, collections, product knowledge, technical aspects, inventory, and logistics. Ensure professional conduct and integrity in customer dealings.
- Provide role clarity : Clearly define daily tasks, sales and collection targets, routes, and responsibilities. Ensure Energy Officers are confident in demonstrating products, handling customer queries, and know they can access support when needed.
- Daily field visits : Conduct weekly visits with each Energy Officer—via meetings, sales, or calls. Address issues and report to Regional Manager. Ensure initial sales are done jointly with the Area Manager to reinforce understanding.
- Work with Energy Officers : Perform joint field activities, provide ongoing training, and promote engagement through community visits and group sales events.
- Exceed sales & collections targets : Achieve or surpass monthly targets set by the Regional Manager. Provide regular updates on sales, recruitment, and customer issues.
- Drive sales processes : Review collection progress daily, train officers on collection strategies, and resolve customer issues to ensure payments and repossession if necessary.
- Remain externally focused : Monitor competitors and market trends to protect and grow Sun King’s market share. Keep management informed of local market dynamics.
- Resolve customer issues : Provide excellent after-sales support, including product delivery, training, installation, and warranty issues. Work with officers to resolve issues within 24 hours.
- Control marketing & other spend : Manage marketing materials and equipment, ensuring cost-effective use of resources.
- Review meetings with Energy Officers : Organize weekly meetings, include RBM, recognize top performers, and motivate the team.
- Grow retail presence : Develop the retail network with the support of a Retail Coordinator, ensuring activities follow processes and retail sales grow significantly.
