Branch Consultant / Financial Advisor - East London
Sanlam Developing Markets (SDM) is a wholesale subsidiary of Sanlam Life Limited and a top financial services provider for the South African entry-level and emerging middle market. It offers a wide range of simple and affordable financial solutions (funeral insurance, savings for education, life cover and personal accident plans). SDM is managed by the SA Retail Mass cluster within the Sanlam Group.
Purpose of the role
To promote Sanlam Retail Mass (SRM)’s products and increase market share through providing sound financial advice and a high level of client service in a branch context; creating opportunities for client optimisation and cross-selling of value-added services.
Key Responsibilities
- Sales delivery
- Gain and maintain an in-depth understanding of SRM product ranges
- Understand the customer’s needs and financial goals and recommend the right product or combination of products that best satisfies those goals in a cost-effective way
- Continuously update customers on new products or changes to existing ones; manage and reflect product changes in the customer portfolio
- Validate client details in line with product and regulatory requirements; submit new business through the proper channels
- Conduct due diligence on clients to identify and flag risks
- Manage own capacity to prioritise daily appointments while accommodating walk-in / non-appointment clients
- In-branch client service and client retention; service and manage all client profiles to keep clients on the books
- Send payment reminders, conduct follow-ups and address potential queries
- Manage NTUs (Not Taken Up) and take corrective actions where required
- Manage persistency of client payments for branch and client benefit
- Assess client risk profiles to proactively identify where support is required
- Consult with clients on alternative payment arrangements and ensure processing and notation on correct platforms
- In-branch servicing in line with client experience standards
- Apply product knowledge to guide clients through policy cancellations and provide alternatives
- Resolve client queries in-branch or escalate using the established framework; provide status feedback
- Maintain quality, compliance and continuous development; stay up to date with registration, product knowledge and CPD
- Identify risks and flag potential fraudulent activities
- Keep and store relevant records of advice; log activities per regulations for reporting and decision making
- Monthly planning and reporting; report daily via relevant technology platforms; collate data for weekly and monthly reporting
- Perform ad-hoc duties as requested by the Retail Branch Manager
Qualifications
Matric (Grade 12)RE5 advantageousFAIS Compliant (Wealth Management) as per DOFA requirementsClass of Business training to be completed within 12 months of employmentKnowledge and Experience
Knowledge of client service and sales / cross-selling tacticsAwareness of insurance landscape, regulatory requirements and guidelines for selling and advising is idealKnowledge of insurance products is advantageous1-year experience in a sales or marketing capacity; experience within insurance branches is an advantageSkills and Competencies
