Job Advert Summary
Unitrans is looking for an energetic Legal Officer with exceptional administrative organising and communication skills who will be required to provide purposeful support to the legal team business development teams and compliance departments. This role is focused on administration of and reporting on all legal matters and administrative requirements of the Legal Services Department including but not limited to contracts company secretarial (where required) infringements general litigation member disputes and legal queries.

Duties & Responsibilities
- Prepare compile proofread and revise several draft types of documents and policies including legal and policy documents management reports policies marketing materials advisory notes and other material
- Daily record keeping with electronic and hard copy filing of documents
- Obtain relevant information from other organisations or agencies
- Create organise and arrange information including the formatting of complex document in various templates and generate reference tools for easy retrieval
- Maintain and update databases and tracking systems
- Respond to all case-related queries and deliver quality work and replies within the required time frame
- Ensure effective administrative information and assistance to Legal Compliance and Business Development Departments
- Must be able to understand and adhere to clients styles and processes for returning work and produce check and return own work directly to the client
- Effectively and positively communicates with clients team members and other stakeholders to confirm to and comply with instructions and to manage deadlines
- Be proactive in identifying opportunities to develop the service to clients and highlights these to the Client Service Manager and Head of Department
- Attend to company compliance activities where required or instructed
- Assist from time to time with introductory and preliminary high level legal researching activities
Minimum Requirements
Experience and Qualification :
More than 5 years experience in a legal or similar environment preferably as a senior paralegal or legal administrator.Tertiary qualification in Paralegal Law or a related FieldProficiency in Microsoft Office Lexis-Nexis and scheduling softwareSound knowledge of legal principlesSkills and Attributes :
Ability to analyse and provide reliable introductory interpretations of legal documentsSystematic knowledge of databases and tracking systems.Exceptional organisational skillsFlexible and hands-on approach to duties with a keen eye for detailAbility to work under pressure and meet deadlinesAbility to work independently and as part of a teamOutstanding written and verbal communication skills with a strong working knowledge of the English language (oral & written)Knowledge of or experience in legal collections and litigation processesKnowledge of case and court file managementAbility to manage stakeholders (attorneys legal consultants service providers etc.) in a confident professional and approachable mannerBasic understanding of compliance corporate secretarial and corporate governance systems and processesBasic understanding of copyright company and labour law will be an added advantageExperience in audio transcriptionIntegrity and honestyNumerical abilityCustomer FocusedSelf-Confident and resilientProblem solving skillsSelf-motivated with a desire for Continuous self-improvement and an appetite to learnLegal research skillsRequired Experience :
