Introduction
CAPASSO is seeking a dynamic and forward-thinking Business Development Manager to drive growth and innovation in the music licensing sector.
The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying and developing new business opportunities, fostering strategic partnerships, and ensuring CAPASSO remains at the forefront of the evolving music landscape.
This role requires a deep understanding of copyright, licensing practices, and emerging technologies, particularly in the context of AI and digital music consumption.
Duties & Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities : Market Research and Analysis : Conduct comprehensive research on international music licensing best practices, including emerging models and revenue streams.Analyze trends in music consumption across various platforms (streaming, social media, gaming, etc.) and identify potential licensing opportunities.Monitor and evaluate the impact of new technologies, particularly AI, on copyright and licensing.Research and assess the feasibility of new service offerings related to music licensing and copyright administration.Business Development and Strategic Partnerships : Identify and cultivate relationships with potential clients, partners, and stakeholders in the music, technology, and entertainment industries.Develop and implement strategic business development plans to expand CAPASSO's market reach and revenue.Negotiate and manage licensing agreements and partnerships.Identify and pursue new revenue streams through innovative licensing models and service offerings.AI and Copyright Expertise : Stay abreast of the latest developments in AI and its implications for copyright law and music licensing.Develop strategies to address the challenges and opportunities presented by AI-generated music and related technologies.Provide expert advice and guidance on AI-related copyright issues to CAPASSO members and stakeholders.Research methods of AI based music identification, and use of AI in music consumption platforms.Service Development and Innovation : Identify and evaluate opportunities to develop new services and products that enhance CAPASSO's value proposition.Collaborate with internal teams to design and implement new service offerings.Monitor and evaluate the performance of existing and new services, and recommend improvements.Reporting and Communication : Prepare and present regular reports on business development activities, market trends, and industry developmentsmunicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, including CAPASSO members, partners, and industry representatives.Represent CAPASSO at industry events and conferences.
Desired Experience & Qualification
Qualifications and Experience : Bachelor's degree in business, law, music industry management, or a related field (Master's degree preferred)Admission as an attorney Proven track record of success in business development, preferably in the music, technology, or entertainment industries.Strong understanding of copyright law and music licensing practices.Knowledge of digital music consumption trends and emerging technologies.Excellent research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.Strong negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.Ability to work independently and as part of a 1 team.
