Capitec Systems Engineer L2 – Parow

As a Systems Engineer L2, you will play a crucial role in maintaining and improving our IT infrastructure. You will manage, monitor, and support our server and virtualization environments, ensure high availability and optimal performance, and work closely with L1 teams for escalations and senior engineers on automation, patching, and continuous improvement initiatives.

• Strong experience in Windows and / or Linux server administration
• Exposure to VMware or other virtualization platforms
• Experience with Active Directory, monitoring tools, and patch management
• Familiarity with automation tools (Ansible, Control‑M, Morpheus) is a plus
• Strong problem‑solving and troubleshooting skills
• Client‑focused, collaborative, and able to work in a fast‑paced environment
• Relevant certifications (Microsoft, VMware, Linux) will be advantageous

Minimum Education

Grade 12 National Certificate / Vocational

Ideal / Preferred Education

Relevant tertiary qualification in Information Technology

Experience

5+ years as a Systems Engineer or similar role with a strong background in server / storage administration and IT operational support capacity.

In this role you will lead the engineering and automation of Capitec's hybrid cloud infrastructure. As a senior Systems Engineer you will design, build, and support scalable and secure server and storage solutions, drive automation initiatives across environments using Ansible, Terraform, and other tools, and mentor and collaborate with other engineers.

Support end‑user devices and operating systems, troubleshoot networking and security issues, monitor security threats, and configure Office 365 services (Exchange, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, Intune). Deliver support within SLA, provide escalated support to IT administrators and voice applications, and maintain accurate documentation.
