Purpose of the position :
The Quality Assurance Nurse will provide quality improvement training & mentorship of DCS clinical and non-clinical staff on prevention, screening, treatment & care of HIV, TB and STI based on identified clinical training priorities. Provide programmatic training including RTQCI & SPI-RT training, assessments and implementationMinimum Requirements
Relevant Professional Nursing Qualification with Diploma in Nursing or BCUR DegreeRegistration with the South African Nursing Council as a Professional NurseNIMART trainingAdult Primary Care (APC) 2023 course completed more than six months ago.A minimum 2 years’ experience in providing Continuous Quality Improvement and at least 1 year experience in the Correctional facilitiesExperience in QI methodology and Facilitation skillsIn-depth knowledge of current international and national guidelines for HIV, STI, TB and Viral Hepatitis managementExtensive knowledge of the local health systems from the national to the local levelsGood understanding of TB, & HIV and knowledge of TIER.Net and it’s functionalitiesProficiency in English & any other African languageValid code 8 driver’s licence and own transportClear criminal recordDuties and Responsibilities
Plan programmatic and clinical training according to correctional facilities needs and operational plansRespond to programmatic / clinical training requests for the correctional centres and plan appropriate trainingLiaise and collaborate with the Regional Training Centre on programmatic and clinical trainingsConduct onsite mentorship to DCS clinicians and non-clinical staffFacilitate clinical training programmes according to agreed standards, learning outcomes and approved curriculumEnsure staff are capacitated to follow current HIV, TB and STI guidelines in accordance with the NSP and the 95-95-95 strategyReview infection control plans and provide feedback and recommendations to Centre Managers aligning to the National Infection Prevention and Control Strategic FrameworkAbility to periodically conduct IPC assessment using the DCS tools, identify gaps and work with IPC champions to address the identified gapsReview local data and conduct clinical case audits to identify gaps in service deliveryProviding mentoring and technical assistance on all aspects of HAST programmeAssess local data with M&E to identify gaps for QI projects for each correctional centreSupport the multidisciplinary facility-based QI teams with QI meetingsComplete necessary reporting after each training session and according to programme reporting requirementsSkills and Competencies
