Job description

Key Responsibilities

  • Organize and supervise deck operations, including cargo, bunkering, waste management, and lifting activities.
  • Act as the FPSO Competent Lifting Person and coordinate with lifting specialists for safe lifting operations.
  • Approve and review lifting plans, verify lifting equipment condition / certification, and ensure safe crane operations.
  • Supervise rigging, slinging, forklifts, and marine rigging equipment, ensuring proper storage and maintenance.
  • Manage inventories of deck and helideck equipment (refuelling, lifting, bunkering, etc.).
  • Supervise, train, and coordinate deck crew members.
  • Act as Helicopter Landing Officer , ensuring safe landings and refuelling operations.
  • Lead bunkering operations (water and DO) in coordination with control room operators.
  • Oversee selective waste sorting, skip management, manifests, and reporting.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate documentation, records, and activity reports.
  • Notify the Marine Operation Superintendent of breakdowns, anomalies, or faults.

Health, Safety & Environment (HSE)

  • Actively participate in all safety initiatives, meetings, and programs.
  • Promote and enforce safe work practices across deck and helideck operations.
  • Conduct preliminary risk analyses for daily activities.
  • Monitor compliance with statutory requirements and internal policies.
  • Maintain constant awareness of hazards and report issues with corrective suggestions.
  • Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years experience in deck operation supervision on oil & gas production installations, or 3 years as Crew Master / Bosun on seagoing vessels.
  • Certificates : Banksman & Rigger , Forklift Licence , Helicopter Landing Officer & Refuelling Certificate (crane operator certificate advantageous).
  • Fluent in English (Portuguese / French an advantage).
  • Strong technical knowledge of offshore lifting equipment (cranes, gantry cranes, forklifts, slings, etc.).
  • Ability to prepare lifting plans and perform risk analyses.
  • Computer literacy (MS Office; basic knowledge of UNISP / SAP advantageous).
  • Proven leadership, organizational ability, and supervisory skills in multicultural teams.
  • Offshore oil & gas experience in hazardous areas (ATEX concept).
