Crane Operator - Offshore Contract (Oil & Gas Industry, West Coast of Africa)

Job descriptionFully participate in all safety initiatives, meetings, and programs. Promote safe work practices and compliance with statutory requirements. Conduct preliminary risk analyses for lifting operations. Maintain continuous hazard awareness and report issues to management. Collaborate closely with deck teams and maintain effective communication. Minimum 5 years experience in lifting operations , with at least 2 years at Stage 3 level. OPITO Stage 3 (or equivalent) crane operator certification with man-riding certification. Experience in the offshore oil & gas industry (hazardous areas, ATEX concept). Fluent in English (French / Portuguese advantageous). Strong technical knowledge of offshore lifting equipment (cranes, gantry cranes, forklifts, slings). Familiarity with international lifting standards (EN, FME, ISO, etc.). Computer skills (MS Office) and good reporting / writing ability. HAD / Helideck Firefighter certification. Excellent teamwork, communication, and adaptability skills in multi-cultural environments. Key Responsibilities
- Perform all FPSO crane lifting operations (inboard and outboard) safely and efficiently.
- Prepare and verify lifting equipment, ensuring compliance with condition and certification requirements.
- Plan and calculate load capacities, guaranteeing lifts are within safe operational parameters.
- Operate FPSO cranes to move cargo, containers, equipment, and supplies.
- Supervise safe rigging and slinging of loads.
- Offload and backload cargoes from supply vessels.
- Conduct daily inspections of cranes, hoisting equipment, and wires.
- Perform first-level crane and lifting equipment maintenance, including cable changes.
- Support lifting certification inspections and follow-up on corrective actions.
- Maintain detailed records, including logbooks, activity reports, and maintenance documentation.
- Monitor environmental and weather conditions, with authority to stop operations for safety reasons.
