An established and respected short-term insurance brokerage based in Claremont, Cape Town , is seeking the expertise of a seasoned Commercial Lines Underwriter to join their dynamic team. The Ideal Candidate :

The successful candidate will be a FAIS-accredited underwriter with a minimum of 5 years experience in Commercial Lines. Proficiency in CIMS and the Santam mainframe is essential, as is the ability to work independently and maintain accuracy in a paperless environment . Strong communication skills and meticulous attention to detail are a must.

Key Responsibilities :

Build and maintain strong working relationships with brokers , clients , insurers , and suppliers

Provide expert advice on policy covers, terms, and conditions

Manage the full underwriting process : quotes , new business , renewals , and endorsements

Ensure compliance with Service Level Agreements and Binder agreements

Maintain accurate records on internal CRM systems

Monitor and manage credit control for the assigned portfolio

Evaluate risks and negotiate terms with insurers and brokers

Keep up to date with industry trends and product developments

Minimum Requirements :

FAIS accredited (relevant qualification and RE5)

At least 5 years experience in Commercial Lines Underwriting

Proficient in CIMS and the Santam mainframe

Able to work with minimal supervision

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

High attention to detail

Comfortable in a paperless working environment

Remuneration :

Salary is commensurate with experience
