Commercial Underwriter | Claremont

A well-established short term Insurance brokerage based in Claremont, Cape Town, requires the services of an experienced Commercial Lines Underwriter.

Minimum requirements :

FAIS accredited (Relevant qualification and RE5)

Minimum 5 years experience

Proficient in the use of CIMS and Santam mainframe

Be able to work with minimal supervision

Attention to detail

Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written

Experienced in working in a paperless environment

Key Responsibilities :

Liaison with potential and existing brokers and clients, maintaining positive relationships by providing accurate and appropriate information on policy covers, terms and conditions

Adherence to Service Level Agreements

Portfolio Management

Liaising with Insurers, Brokers and Suppliers

Processing quotes, new policies, renewals and endorsements

Accurate management of portfolio

Experience in operating with Insurer Binder agreements

Insurance Knowledge

Understanding of insurance products and proposals

Keeping abreast of developments within the industry.

Evaluation of the risk

Ability to negotiate terms with Insurers and Brokers

Keeping detailed records of policies underwritten via internal CRM program

Financial

Manage credit control of allocated portfolio
