Job descriptionPrepare and maintain general ledger entries. Support month-end and year-end closing processes. Assist with preparation of management accounts and financial reports. Accounts Payable & Receivable Process customer invoices, receipts, and statements. Perform supplier and customer reconciliations. Follow up on outstanding payments and resolve queries. Banking & Cashbook Process and allocate bank payments and receipts. Assist with petty cash management and reconciliation. Tax & Compliance Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards, company policies, and transport industry regulations. Operational Support Monitor cost allocations for fleet, fuel, maintenance, and logistics expenses. Assist with stock control, fixed asset registers, and depreciation calculations. Ad-hoc Duties Provide general administrative and financial support as required. Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Good knowledge of accounting principles and practices. Proficiency in MS Excel and accounting software (e.g., Sage, Xero, Pastel, SAP). Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines. Analytical and problem-solving skills. Strong communication and interpersonal skills Diploma or Degree in Accounting / Finance (or studying towards one). 1–2 years’ experience in accounting or finance role (internship or entry-level accepted). Exposure to the transport, logistics, or commercial industry advantageous. Knowledge of relevant tax legislation and compliance.

Job Purpose : The Junior Accountant provides financial and administrative support within the transport and commercial industry. The role is responsible for assisting with accurate recording of financial transactions, maintaining ledgers, reconciliations, and compliance with company policies and statutory requirements.
Responsibilities
- Financial Accounting & Reporting
Assist with processing and posting of daily financial transactions.
Capture supplier invoices and ensure proper authorisations.
Maintain and reconcile company bank accounts.
Assist in preparing VAT, PAYE, and other statutory submissions.
Provide financial support to transport operations and commercial teams.
Support internal and external audits.
