Position Summary :
Genesis seeks a highly capable and strategic Financial Director to lead our global finance function. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with extensive experience in multi-country and multi-entity financial management. This pivotal role requires a professional adept at navigating complex financial structures and possessing a deep understanding of international contracts and multilateral grant provider compliance. Key Responsibilities :
Financial Leadership & Strategic Oversight : Provide leadership for the global finance function, with the ultimate responsibility for all financial processes in the business. A key focus is to establish structures that ensure profitability at the selling unit and business unit levels.Team & Functional Management : Directly oversee the Corporate Finance, Treasury, and Commercial functions, leading a geographically dispersed team and ensuring all financial processes are executed effectively.Multi-Jurisdictional Management : Handle multi-country and multi-entity financial operations, including working with multiple currencies. Provide strategic oversight of complex group structures across various regulatory environments.Compliance and Risk : Manage financial risks and ensure compliance with the requirements of large international contracts and multilateral grant providers.Treasury and Taxation : Lead treasury functions and manage all aspects of taxation, and other statutory requirements.Strategic & Commercial Leadership : Act as a strategic business partner to the CEO and senior leadership, translating financial data into actionable insights to inform strategic decisions and drive growth. This role is also pivotal in setting up "go-to-market alliances" with tech and other firms.Digital Fluency : Lead the digital evolution of our finance function. You will be expected to actively seek out and implement technological solutions, including advanced systems and AI, to automate workflows, ensure data integrity, and provide real-time financial intelligence. Your vision will be essential in creating a highly efficient and modern finance function.Financial Planning & Analysis : Lead global budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning. Develop financial models for strategic decisions and conduct performance analysis to drive improvements.Cash Flow Management & Capital Allocation : Optimise global working capital and lead capital expenditure planning. Manage intercompany funding and transfer pricing compliance.Required Qualifications and Experience :
Professional Certification : Must hold a CA (Chartered Accountant) or a local equivalent.Extensive Experience : Demonstrated success in leading multi-country and multi-entity financial managementContract Expertise : Proven experience with large international contracts and the associated compliance.Grant Provider Knowledge : A strong understanding of contracts from large grant providers, such as multilaterals.Team Management : The ability to effectively run a finance team that is geographically dispersed.Financial Acumen : Proven expertise in treasury, taxation, and comprehensive risk management.Resilience & Adaptability : Capable of navigating complex and often unpredictable challenges, from currency fluctuations to regulatory changes. The ability to remain calm under pressure, adapt to new situations, and lead with a clear head is paramount.Preferred Qualifications :
Industry Background : Experience in the development space is highly valued.Experience : 10 to 15 years of experience, with at least the past 3 in a similar senior role at a similar organisationLocation : While we will consider candidates globally, there is a preference for candidates located in South Africa (RSA), followed by Kenya (KE) or the UK.Accounting / Financial Services jobs
