The incumbent will be responsible for :
Teaching in two of the following modules offered by the Department of Public Law at both undergraduate and postgraduate level, which involve taking a contextual and transformative approach :
Administrative lawLegal interpretationInternational air (aviation) lawPublic international law including international humanitarian law and international criminal law;Conducting academic scholarly research;Engaging with the community through teaching, supervision and research that is embedded in and responsive to the African and South African social context;Having an in-depth understanding of own area of specialisation to enable development of new knowledge, innovation and understanding within the field;Supervising research students;Mentoring students at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels;Academic administration and management;Performing other duties as delegated by Head of the DepartmentMINIMUM REQUIREMENTS :
Lecturer :
LLM (preferably by full dissertation) in one of the abovementioned fields;Relevant tertiary teaching experience will be a strong recommendation;Accredited quality publication / s will be a strong recommendation;Evidence of community engagement being embedded in the candidate's research and / or teaching will be a strong recommendation;Relevant academic administration experience will be a strong recommendation.Senior Lecturer :
LLD / PhD degree in one of the abovementioned fields;At least five years’ tertiary teaching experience;8 accredited publications in peer-reviewed journals of which three should have been published in the three years preceding the year of application;Conference papers delivered;Evidence of successful supervision of at least research master’s degrees or coursework master’s mini-dissertations will be a strong recommendation;Evidence of community engagement;Proven record of academic administration and academic citizenship.ADDED ADVANTAGES AND PREFERENCES :
Demonstrable subject expertise and interest in the following area related to public law :
