This role is responsible for driving sales strategy, building retailer relationships, and ensuring strong brand engagement year-round. The Sales Manager will oversee forecasting, budgeting, and execution of customer engagement activities, while collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver on key growth objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and lead strategic sales plans aligned with business and brand goals
- Identify and secure new business opportunities within retail and independent channels
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure accurate forecasting and data integrity
- Drive category growth through innovation and insights-led initiatives
- Manage and report on budgets, working capital, and quarterly cash flow
- Oversee customer reporting, including retail sales and forecast tracking
- Conduct regular engagement with retailers and distributors
- Contribute to new product development to grow market share
- Lead and mentor staff through biannual performance reviews and career development plans
Requirements
10+ years' experience in sales and / or brand management, with executive leadership exposureRelevant degree in Commerce or related fieldStrong track record in the South African retail sector; apparel or footwear experience preferredExcellent commercial acumen and understanding of customer engagementProficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and WordSkilled in data-driven decision-making and sales forecastingMotivated, strategic, and confident in building and maintaining relationshipsExperience in managing staff and leading teams through change and growth
