RISK AND COMPLIANCE OFFICER

Minimum requirements :

• Bachelors degree in Law, Risk Management, Compliance, or a related field
• Minimum of 5 years' experience in legal, risk, or compliance roles (preferably within a law firm or professional services firm)
• In-depth knowledge of South African legal and regulatory frameworks, especially LPA, FICA, POPIA, and related legislation
• Experience with compliance systems and risk management tools
• Certified Compliance Professional (e.g., CPrac(CA), CProf(CA)) or similar
• Admitted attorney (advantageous but not essential)
• Experience in internal auditing or forensic investigations
• Ensure the firm complies with all relevant laws, regulations, and professional standards, including :
• Legal Practice Act (LPA)
• Financial Intelligence Centre Act (FICA)
• Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA)
• Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment (B-BBEE) Codes
• Bank SLA compliance
• Maintain and update compliance policies and procedures in line with changes in legislation
• Serve as the primary point of contact for regulatory bodies (e.g., LPC, FIC)
• Develop and manage internal compliance audits and respond to external audit requests
• Draft and submit regulatory reports and returns (e.g., FIC reports, compliance certifications)
