Overview
JBT Marel is seeking a Mechanical Engineer for a technical support role in Cape Town. The ideal candidate will develop and review service products with the aim to increase revenue.
Responsibilities
- Develop service products, e.g., Tactical / Strategic Technical Solutions and Go‑to‑Market.
- Implement revenue‑growth strategies (ProCare, Consumables, Retrofits...).
- Develop, review, and improve service, end‑of‑life (EOL) and upgrade kits for all equipment sold and maintained in South Africa.
- Create and maintain 'as‑built' diagrams / documentation and process / procedure documentation for group standards.
- Build and maintain relationships with customers (Partner Management).
- Follow up with customers on rebuild proposals, projects, breakdowns and promote JBT Marel spares, service, rebuilds and upgrade kits.
- Provide customer emergency support (internal support to customers and JBT Marel field team).
- Engineer support to field technicians and on‑site project coordinators.
- Oversee warranty process, repairs and / or replacements; investigate and propose improvements.
- Present solutions for future needs and projects to upper management.
- Engineer support to RSA Engineering Office when required.
- Explain and simplify complex technical and design concepts.
- Collaborate with Sales, Customer Service, and Operations on new concepts, solutions, proposals, and RFPs to future customers.
- Liaise with JBT Marel international offices on latest and new developments of existing equipment to support customers on all product lines in the region.
- Prepare and present various customer services value‑add initiatives to management and potential customers.
Requirements and Skills
Mechanical Diploma / Degree (or equivalent).Minimum 3 to 5 years business experience in a manufacturing environment.Proficiency in English and Afrikaans (oral & written).Deep understanding of JBT Product Lines and market dynamics.Enthusiastic about implementing change and challenging status quo.Entrepreneurial spirit and can‑do attitude.Cross‑departmental teamwork (interconnected with JBT Marel Regional team, customers, and other supporting functions).Initiative taker, problem‑solver, proactive, and continuous improvement orientation.Meticulous and organized.Service‑oriented with a good temper for handling disputes and emergencies.Benefits
