Job PurposeTo support the growth and retention of key national retail accounts by assisting in strategic planning, coordination of sales initiatives, promotional execution, and relationship management. The Junior Key Accounts Manager plays a pivotal role in supporting senior stakeholders and ensuring operational excellence across designated accounts.
Key Responsibilities
1. Account Support & Execution
Assist in the onboarding of new accounts (customer take-on process).
Support in drafting contracts, account documentation, and promotional agreements.
Serve as the point of contact for internal coordination with operations, marketing, and finance for account activities.
Maintain account databases and performance trackers.
2. Customer Engagement & Relationship Management
Build strong working relationships with buying teams and store-level contacts.
Support the execution of promotional activities and campaigns across channels.
Attend trade visits and assist in preparing post-activity performance reports.
Assist in tracking sales vs targets per customer and SKU.
Provide support with promotional ROI evaluations.
Analyse category and customer performance data to identify improvement areas.
4. Operational Excellence
Ensure accurate listing of SKUs and compliance with pricing agreements.
Work closely with merchandising teams and third-party service providers.
Monitor product availability and escalate issues promptly.
Participate in on-the-job training, coaching sessions, and sales meetings.
Learn to manage joint business planning frameworks under supervision.
Qualifications & Experience
Grade 12 with Mathematics
Diploma or Degree in Sales, Business, Marketing or similar
1–2 years’ experience in FMCG or retail industry in a sales or merchandising support role
Exposure to working with key accounts (Pick n Pay, Shoprite, SPAR) an advantage
